Glossary

This page defines key terminology used throughout the CCN documentation.

CCN-P (CCN Proceedings)

The peer-reviewed publication track at CCN. Accepted CCN-P papers receive a DOI and are published in the CCN Proceedings. These papers undergo rigorous peer review with author response and discussion periods.

Contributed Talk

An oral presentation at the conference. A subset of accepted submissions (from both the Proceedings and Extended Abstracts tracks) are selected for Contributed Talks based on reviewer assessments and TPC decisions.

Desk Rejection

A submission that is rejected before peer review begins. This can occur due to:

  • Formatting violations (not using official templates, exceeding page limits)

  • Policy violations (anonymity breaches, dual submission violations)

  • Being out of scope for the conference

  • Missing required information (e.g., reciprocal reviewer not designated)

Extended Abstract (EA)

The lighter-weight submission track at CCN. Extended Abstracts are 2-page submissions that undergo light peer review. Accepted EAs are presented as posters and may be selected for Contributed Talks. Unlike Proceedings papers, EAs do not receive a DOI.

TPC (Technical Programme Committee)

The organizing committee that oversees the CCN review process. The TPC coordinates reviewers, area chairs, and senior area chairs, and makes final decisions on submissions. Contact them at tpc@ccneuro.org.
